Sneaky Green Apple Sauce

This awesome recipe tastes like apple sauce but is packed full of dark leafy greens.  By  sneaking kale in you increase the nutrient content of this meal.  Kale is full of iron, vitamins K, A and C, fiber and omega 3’s.  Apples contain phytonutrients that help manage blood sugar and are full of fiber and vitamin C.

Ingredients:

12 apples

1 head of kale

Peel and de-seed the apples and put into the blender.  Rinse the kale, peel the leaf off the spine and lightly steam.  When this is done add to the blender and thats it!

* Add a sprinkle of cinnamon to spice it up.

Your baby is sure to enjoy how simply delicious this meal is.

Enjoy!

In great health & happiness,

Dr. Michelle

Hi Annie, it is delicious! And yes cinnamon is okay for babies, I put it in my son’s breakfast all the time! It is good to add herbs and spices as it diversifies their palette and hopefully makes them less picky in the long run. Just like anything else you introduce, start low and go slow. Add a little and if your little one seems okay with it then feel free to put it in other meals. Check out my article on food introduction for more information. Thanks for reading and let me know how your babe likes it! :)
